Kung first time traveler ka, or looking for a quick getaway, or looking for a fun and safe place to move around, Singapore is a great place to explore and here are the eight reasons why:

1. People can understand and speak English, not all but majority of the locals can. English is the first language in Singapore, pero maraming iba pang lahi doon kasama na ang mga Chinese, Malaysian, Indian at iba pa, at may kani-kaniya din silang mga dialects.

2. The whole country is only the same size as Olongapo City + SBMA area, not too big to explore in terms of size, but there's something special in almost every corner of the city kaya sulit ang pamasahe at oras.

3. International cuisine is well represented and you don't even have to spend too much money to experience good food around. Find any hawker center or food court, they have these group of food stalls everywhere, in the busiest places and in the quietest neighborhoods. Why?? Most locals don't cook their own food. Buying cooked food is part of their lifestyle, that's why it's convenient for everyone to grab a bite anytime, anywhere.

4. Road signs, trains and train stations, buses and bus stations, theme parks, neighborhood parks, kahit saan ka lumingon, all signs and labels are in English. Basta marunong ka magbasa, hindi ka maliligaw at tiyak makakarating ka sa iyong patutunguhan. At kung talagang nawindang ka nga napakadaling maghanap ng tulong. Sanay na ang mga locals to help the tourists and of course meron din customer service sa bawat train and bus stations.

5. Cashless payment options. Be sure to get your EZlink card and you are good to go. EZLink card is the universal card for rides, and sometimes can be used for purchases as well. This is your ticket to move around and you don't need to carry cash. It is easy and convenient to top-up, you'll be guided from the time you avail this card.

6. Almost all commercial establishment have cashless payment option, even small neighborhood shops. It is safe, I guarantee you. Mas hindi pa nga safe ang magdala ng card, dahil you have to open your bag and wallet in public places. Use of debit or credit card is highly recommended. May mga local food stalls lang na you have to pay in cash, lalo na sa hawker centers where you need to get your coffee and snacks, pero many of them may cashless payment option na rin.

7. Once you get the hang of it, mas madali ka na mag move around sa iba pang countries. These are all based on my actual experiences, for nine years of living and working in Singapore (as a tourist and as a permanent resident).
